In Tazkiyah—Purification of the Soul Maulana Wahiduddin Khan explains that the Quran mentions four responsibilities of the Prophet, one being the purification of the self (2:129). As such it is essential for believers to give utmost priority to the purification of the self in their lives. Similarly, it is necessary for the da‘i and the reformer to attach great importance to the process of purification. Purification (tazkiyah) covers a number of Islamic imperatives: purifying oneself of the temptations of the self and Satan; refraining from negative reaction when faced with unpleasant experiences occasioned by others; and remaining resistant to such influences as cause man to deviate from the straight path, etc. The book outlines various principles of how to undertake tazkiyah within oneself so as to develop a purified personality that may be found eligible for entering the eternal world of paradise (The Quran 20:75).

The purpose of the book, The Age of Peace is to re-engineer the minds of those who think in terms of violence. According to its author, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan, the book has a twofold target: first to help those who are engaged in violence realise that the present age is an age of peace. The changes brought about over several hundred years have ushered in an age in which one can attain through completely peaceful means what one could have achieved earlier only through war and confrontation. Second, the author expounds on the guiding principles that should govern the actions of those who want to establish peace in society. The book, therefore, provides them with a formula for peace. In its many articles, the book draws lessons from history and modern-day advances in thought and learning to shed light on the importance of peace, ways to keep the peace, and methods to counter violence at an intellectual level.

"In the book entitled, The Alarm of Doomsday: The Beginning of the End of Human History, Maulana Wahiduddin Khan explains that God’s prophets have constantly told us that the present world will not be eternal, that it is perpetually on its countdown, and that a time will come when its term will expire, and it will come to its end. All these revelations and scientific facts are a declaration by the Creator that, according to His plan, this period of the world has come to its end. It is an Alarm of the coming of Doomsday when the first phase of human history will end. The beginning of the end of human history is upon us. The final time has come for all human beings to awaken and arise and discover their Creator and His creation plan for them and replan their lives according to it. The trumpet of Doomsday will awaken those who do not awake today, but that awakening will be of no avail to anyone. The greatest need of the hour is to acquaint all people with God’s message of the Creation plan of God. That is, to tell man why God created this world, the purpose of settling man on earth; what is required from man in his pre-death life span, and what he will confront after death. The Quran guides man throughout his entire journey right from this life to the next in the Hereafter."

In the book The Fire of Hell, the author explains that the most powerful motivating force in our lives is fear. Consciously or subconsciously, each and every person functions because of some real or imaginary fear. God has created man: He controls the vast universe and has complete power over man’s destiny. Anyone who truly believes this, will certainly fear God. But there is more to the matter than this: God will raise us up after death and will judge us according to our words and deeds on earth. We are responsible to Him for our actions. We must do our utmost to protect ourselves and others from the torment of hell fire. God’s prophets taught man the reality of life. According to their teachings, the real issue we face in life is how to avoid God’s punishment in the next world. We must prepare ourselves for meeting God and must exhort others to do the same. As Muslims, this is the basic task that lies before us. Other things that we desire in life can be ours only if we perform this fundamental task.
